Erica S. Hubbard

CEO + FOUNDER

Erica S. Hubbard is a nationally recognized advisor on fine and contemporary art, culture and race who is known for opening the art world to new audiences and driving conversations about equity and inclusion in arts and cultural spaces.

Formerly, Erica served as Associate Director of Civic Relations & Partnerships at the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC). At AIC, she connected the world-famous museum’s programming, events and key civic messages to historically underrepresented areas of Chicago, focused on the Black and Brown communities of the city’s South and West Sides. Erica’s work across the museum’s departments is credited for the largest attendance-driving programs the Art Institute has seen including The Obama Portraits in their initial tour stop in Chicago, as well as a surge in younger, diverse crowds attending Bisa Butler: Portraits, the museum’s best attended textile exhibition in its history.

Erica also led the museum’s first-ever Listening Tour engaging with Chicagoans in six historically underrepresented neighborhoods. Throughout her seven years at the Art Institute, Erica was seen as a strategic leader in community engagement, tactical alignment and marketing for inclusive communities, including leading the museum’s Leadership Advisory Committee and producing sold-out events like Black Girl Magic (2019) and Invisible Man: Gordon Parks and Ralph Ellison (2016).

Intent on growing the next generation of collectors, appreciators and curators, she frequently speaks to high school and college students about art history, collecting and career development in fine arts and museum curation and exhibition.

Erica holds a Bachelor of Arts in print journalism from Howard University. She is on the board of the Night Ministry, which conducts outreach and provides social services to Chicagoans struggling with homelessness, and 3Arts, a nonprofit organization that supports and advocates for Chicago’s artists from underrepresented backgrounds.
